Will you?

June 2, 2009 mean people, rude

So this weekend – my husband was driving on the freeway in Florida when his tire shredded, causing serious issues with controlling his vehicle. Thankfully he was able to pull to the side of the road without being hit or hitting someone else. And? He had just finished up working a 16 hour shift as well.

Instead of people stopping to see if he was okay – they honked and screamed at him. This hurt my heart. 3200 miles away and I could do NOTHING.

Neither did anyone else.  Not a single person. Not even the numerous Florida Highway Patrol that went buy. Serve and Protect ? I think NOT.

Then – I got to thinking – would I have? I hope I would have.  I know times have changed from when I was a kid and we would help the random stranger who was broke down on the side of the road.

Sooo.. on the way back from lunch Sunday – there was a car broke down,on the side of the road . Yes, I did stop to make sure they were okay – and they were. Help was on it’s way.

From now on,I will be stopping – I WILL be that Good Samaritan – of course, I will take my safety into consideration.. What happens if not a single person stops to make sure everything is okay?

What truly has happened to our world to where we look the other way?

Dear Mr Policeman..

Dear County/City Police Person,

You can pull us over for speeding, but you can speed past us like you’re on a hot pursuit? ? Just to pull into Starbucks? Explain that to me.

You can pull us over for not using our blinker to change lanes , but what’s good for the goose is NOT good for the gander? Explain that to me.  Please use your blinker. You just about took out my front bumper. Jerk.

You can pull us over for changing lanes in an intersection, but it’s okay for you to do so? What?!

Just because you drive a fast car with flashing lights does not make you exempt from the law, correct? Correct.

Explain THAT to me.

Sincerely,

Chrissi
